First Storm Cycle Passes, Another Cooler One On The Way

State and federal agencies say so far so good in terms of managing water flow through this first storm cycle. The Department of Water Resources give an update with another storm on the way.

Lauren Hersh has three words to capture the mood over the last 36 hours at the Flood Operation Center.

"Adrenalin-filled madness," she says.

Hersh is DWR spokeswoman on duty. As this "weather event" winds down the agency is "cautiously optimistic" about how things have gone from a flood management perspective.

"Everything that needed to work, worked fine," says Hersh. "The weirs, the river, the rivers did pretty much what was expected and our infrastructure was able to handle it."

DWR expects the next storm to be a little cooler than this one. The north coast is likely to get the brunt of rainfall including the Smith, Klamath, Russian, Napa and Eel Rivers.
