Yosemite Valley is set to reopen for day-use visitors Tuesday morning after being closed due to flood concerns. Campgrounds in Yosemite Valley will open Tuesday evening and other overnight accomodations will open Wednesday.
Some roads around the valley remain closed until further notice. There is no access to Yosemite through Highway 140 at El Portal Road. Hetch Hetchy Road is also closed due to a rockfall.
The Merced River reached flood stage, above 10 feet, at Pohono Bridge Sunday evening. The river peaked at 12.7 feet at 4:00 a.m., according to officials.
They also say both roads and infrastructure were impacted and park visitors are asked to be aware of hazards including potential wet and icy road contiditions, rockfall and debris in roadways.
