An old quarry in the center of Rocklin could someday be the site of a major tourist attraction.
The attraction would be an adventure park with zip lining, rock climbing and rope courses at a vacant site called Big Gun Quarry.
"The quarry is an historic site in Rocklin," says Michael Young with the City of Rocklin. "It's a seven-story deep quarry."
City Council members have unanimously approved an agreement with a company called Legacy Family Adventures to design part of the proposed park. Young says meetings will be held later to get public input - once the designs are finished.
"There'll be a number of other opportunities for the public to come and express their concern or any issues they might want to address before the park is possibly built," says Young.
He says the park could be a catalyst for economic growth - helping to spur other businesses.
Rocklin was once part of the early California granite industry, where stone was processed to help build the state Capitol building.
