Officials have identified a tree trimmer who died after a limb snapped while he worked in a large tree in a Sacramento neighborhood.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified the tree trimmer as 39-year-old Heriberto Rangel-Montoya.
The Sacramento Bee reports firefighters found Rangel-Montoya on Monday about 25 feet off the ground pinned in the tree.
Sacramento Fire Department officials say that when firefighters arrived, branches were hanging down in the way. They got a 35-foot ladder up to check Rangel-Montoya for vital signs. They then used an aerial ladder truck to recover the body.
Officials say it is unclear how Rangel-Montoya died. They say the state Division of Occupational Safety and Health also responded.
Neighbor Kou Vang says he saw a branch snap and Rangel-Montoya struggling.
