Update 8:36 a.m. Feb. 14: As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, the evacuation advisory for residents of Tyler Island and eastern Walnut Grove is still in effect.
The advisory was put in place Monday because of a compromised levee.
Crews are continuing to repair the levee Tuesday.
Original Post: An evacuation advisory has been issued for residents of Tyler Island. Officials say flooding in the area may occur due to a compromised levee.
The Walnut Grove Fire District says a mandatory evacuation has been called for everyone on the southern side of the island.
Residents are advised to travel through Tyler Island Road south to Tyler Island Bridge Road, then to River Road. Tyler Island/San Andrus Island Road north to Walnut Grove Road, then north or south to River Road and West Walnut Groad.
An evacuation center has been opened at the Cal Expo east gate. The center is accepting small pets.
