The head of the California State University system is telling students to contact campus police, should they be approached by somebody asking for immigration documentation.
Chancellor Timothy White sent out the memorandum Wednesday in response to new Trump Administration rules regarding immigration enforcement.
White says the emerging policies out of Washington are complex, and the CSU is carefully examining how the federal directives could impact students.
He says the rules thus far do not affect the existing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, known as DACA.
Campus police contacted by students or staff will act as a liaison with federal officials.
White says the CSU is committed to being inclusive and welcoming and is enhanced by its global community.
