UPDATE FEB. 22 7:18 A.M.: Caltrans District 3 reports that I-80 is opened again to all traffic eastbound and westbound.
Highway 193 is closed in the Chili Bar area because of multiple mudslides.
There is no estimated time of opening for both lanes.
UPDATE 2:40 p.m.: Both directions of I-80 at Donner Pass are closed due to zero visibility.
Only one lane in each direction on Highway 50 in El Dorado County is open while crews work on a buckling shoulder lane. Lanes will remain reduced for the next few months, according to Caltrans.
Eastbound Highway 20 at Nevada City is also closed.
Motorists should expect delays.
ORIGINAL: Motorists should expect delays on Highway 50 in El Dorado County due to the deterioration of the westbound lanes.
Authorities say the shoulder lane is buckling and Caltrans crews are attempting to fix it. The section of the highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the next few months while repair work is performed.
Eastbound 80 at Donner Pass is also closed due to numerous vehicle collisions. Traffic is being turned around at Donner Pass, according to Caltrans.
"If you don't need to come up here today, please don't," says Donner Pass Superintendent Dave Wood.
There is no estimated time of opening.
