UPDATE 4:30 p.m. Sheriff’s homicide detectives have arrested Teris Vinson for the murder of Janet Mejia.
Mejia was a 28-year-old Sacramento woman who was reported missing on Tuesday by family and friends. Her body was found late Thursday along Watt Avenue in Placer County.
Vinson was one of her roommates and was charged with the murder today.
The sheriff's department says different aspects of the murder investigation pointed to Vinson's involvement.
But, no motive has been identified, yet.
Vinson has been in custody since Thursday for weapons charges.
Investigators say those charges and the murder appear to be unrelated.
He is being held without bail.
Vinson's arraignment on the murder charge is scheduled for April 19.
