(AP) - San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott says police shot and killed a man who was stabbing another man on busy Market Street.
Scott told reporters the shooting happened Wednesday morning when the officers came upon the stabbing during their regular beat patrol in the neighborhood. He says a white man was stabbing an Asian man.
The busy thoroughfare, which is popular with locals and tourists, has been closed for hours as officers investigate.
Scott says nobody wants to see anybody's life taken, and the situation is tragic. He gave few details during a short news conference.
The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital.
