The Stanislaus Sheriff's Department says at least one fraudulent donation account has been established using pictures of a deputy and a community service officer killed over the week.
Deputy Jason Garner and Community Service Officer Raschel Johnson died when the patrol vehicle they were in veered off a Modesto road and crashed into a building, catching fire. They were responding to a burglary call.
The department says the Stanislaus Sworn Deputies Association is in the process of setting up a memorial fund for Garner and Johnson. It says detectives are looking into who set up the phony GoFundMe account using their pictures.
