Sacramento police are investigating an abduction attempt around 9 a.m. Thursday near Leataata Floyd Elementary School in the upper Land Park neighborhood.
A boy was approached by two men after he had broken off from another student and was walking alone. The kidnap attempt prompted school officials to send text and phone messages to parents.
"Suspects, who are reported to be traveling in a white Kia Sedona van, drove off immediately when approached by parents," says the voice message.
One of the men reportedly had a handgun.
School officials warned students to walk with friends and not approach strangers.
