The Stockton Police Department says evacuations are in place this evening as a large fire burns in the area of Weber Avenue and B Street, east of downtown and just north of Highway Four.
Capital Public Radio's Stockton Reporter Rich Ibarra says the fire is burning in a large pile of wooden pallets on a property adjacent to a rail yard. Several cars and a neighboring structure downwind from the pallet fire could also be seen burning in the area.
The Department says the following streets are closed in the area: Weber Avenue to Myrtle Road and B Street to E Street.
A large plume of dark smoke can be seen for miles.
