Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies are looking for suspects in an officer involved shooting. It happened early Thursday morning near the intersection of Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road where a Sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle for a code violation.
The male suspect exited the passenger side with a handgun, and immediately fired several shots at the deputy hitting the deputy's patrol car, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. The deputy returned fire at the suspect.
The suspect then got back into his vehicle and fled southbound for 200-300 yards then exited the car and feld on food into the neighborhood near Stockton Boulevard and Jansen Drive.
The driver of the vehicle led deputies on a high-speed pursuit that ended in Yolo County along Interstate Five near the Zamora exit. The suspect fled on foot after the vehicle was disabled using a spike strip.
The Sheriff's Department describes the shooter as a Hispanic male adut wearing a gray checkered shirt, long colored pants, a hat and armed with a handgun.
The search in the Zamora area is still ongoing at this time.
There is no word yet on injuries.
