The City of Sacramento is hiring a company to find sponsors for the Sacramento Convention Center Complex.
If the City Council approves, the Superlative Group of Cleveland, Ohio, will be paid about a $250,000 to identify advertising and sponsor areas within the Convention Center or the Community Center Theater.
The city has begun a construction and renovation project at the complex, but has not yet said how it will pay for most of the 200 million dollar cost.
Desmond Parrington is the Senior Development Project Manager for the city.
“It helps bring in additional revenue that can be used either for the operations and maintenance of the facility or towards the overall construction,” says Parrington.
Parrington says most spaces would be eligible to be sponsored.
Some areas, like the Runyan Little Theater, Memorial Hall, and Sam Burns Exhibit Hall would likely not be part of any sponsorship deal.
Two years ago, the Cleveland Convention Center sold naming rights for $10 million over 20 years.
