Stockton police, firefighters, and the bomb squad arrived at a North Stockton home Sunday acting on a tip.
They found the garage door wide open and inside and in plain view was a treasure trove of illegal fireworks.
Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva said it’s one of the biggest finds in recent memory.
“After they finally weighed everything, they came close to the 950 pounds of illegal fireworks and it was an estimated value of $10,000," Silva said.
Many of the boxes were marked “Made in China” and contained rockets that fly up into the air. Silva said since then more than a dozen new tips have come to police.
“The task force members will be extremely busy this week trying to go out and get those other people who have these illegal fireworks,” he said.
Police arrested the resident and charged him with two felony counts of possession and intent to sell.
