Deborah Luman has been Encina High School’s cafeteria supervisor for the past eight years. She starts her day at 5 a.m. and supervises the kitchen staff in preparing breakfast and lunch for the school’s 1,100 students. But Luman serves up more than just food in her busy cafeteria. She gives advice to student workers when they need it or a stern look and warning to those misbehaving. And she’s there to give a hug to a student who might be going through a tough time at home or at school.
