A Fresno murder suspect who escaped from police last week was recaptured in Sacramento Thursday.
Ibn Haqq, 21 years old, was arrested along with his wife while leaving an apartment. He was still wearing the handcuff he had on when he climbed out a window at Fresno police headquarters. Haqq was handcuffed to a chair for questioning when he managed to break free, then used the cuff as a weapon in a fight with detectives.
"We have exhausted just about every resource that we could think of in trying to locate Ibn Haqq since he was violent individual that was wanted for murder, had assaulted our detectives, had escaped from our custody and we did not want to see him involved in any other violent crime," says Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Dyer also says Haqq's escape has triggered changes to the department's interview procedures. Haqq escaped while being questioned in connection with the shooting death of a man inside a Fresno apartment earlier this month.
