The Washoe County Health Department says seven new mosquito collections have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
This is in addition to one earlier positive test.
The infected region stretches from Spanish Springs to Washoe Lake.
The report comes just one day after the County Commission approved more than a half-million dollars to cover mosquito spraying.
Flooded areas this summer are breeding grounds for mosquitos.
No human cases have yet been reported.
