More than 7,500 firefighters continue to battle 20 large wildfires throughout California.
CAL FIRE says in Northern California, there's a high risk of wildfires because of lightning, erratic winds and dry fuels. The region is expected to get numerous thunderstorms through Thursday night, especially over the foothills and mountains. A Red Flag warning is in effect. A few storms could drift into the valley.
The most destructive fire burning is in Trinity County, the Helena Fire is now 30 percent contained. It has blackened more than 14,000 acres and destroyed 72 homes.
The Railroad Fire in Madera County has scorched more than 11,000 acres in the Sierra National Forest. It is now 35 percent contained.
