Immigration agents arrested 500 undocumented immigrants living in so-called sanctuary cities that don't cooperate with ICE.
Arrests were made in San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles as part of "Safe City," a four-day operation that ended Wednesday.
Philadelphia had the most arrests with 107 followed by Los Angeles with 101.
ICE said those targeted included people with criminal convictions, those facing criminal charges, known gang members and affiliates, immigration fugitives and those who re-entered the U.S. after being deported. ICE insists that no DACA recipients were targeted.
ICE said sanctuary jurisdictions that don't honor detainers or allow access to jails and prisons are shielding criminals. It said those cities and counties force ICE to conduct at-large arrests in those communities.
