The thermometer is expected to hover around the freezing point over the next couple of days in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, and winds will help to add to the chill factor.
The recent storm was followed by a mass of cold air. So, in the week ahead temperatures will drop in some cases to freezing.
Tom Dang with the U.S. Weather Service says the farther south you travel, the colder it will get.
“Some locations in the San Joaquin Valley and especially Merced and Fresno Counties. Those locations could potentially drop to the mid 20’s,” Dang said.
Dang expects breezy wind conditions but not the strong gusts that toppled trees over the weekend.
He advises people to take precautions overnight with sensitive plants as well as pets.
