Sacramento police have determined that the suspicious package left outside the Sacramento Bee building at 21st and Q streets this morning is not dangerous, according to a tweet from the police department.
The Bee first reported the threat this morning at around 7:30 a.m. Politics reporter Bryan Anderson and other employees were tweeting and reporting from the scene as police investigated the package.
Executive Editor Lauren Gustus sent out an early morning email after the threat was discovered, telling employees to stay home and work remotely, according to the Bee’s story.
One of the building’s security guards noticed a "dark-colored book or laptop bag" leaning against the front doors this morning. The package is believed to have been dropped off by someone on a bike before 6 a.m., according to the Bee.
Q Street is closed to traffic between 21st and 22nd streets while police respond to the situation. The police are currently clearing the scene.
