Some lanes of Highway 99 are now open, but the No. 2 lanes in both directions are still closed.

A fire north of downtown Galt has shut down Highway 99 in both directions during Wednesday's afternoon commute.
Cosumnes Fire Department chief Mike McLoughlin expects 99 to remain closed until at least 6 p.m.
The fire started at approximately 2:30 p.m. near the highway, and has spread to a wrecking yard and commercial buildings near North Lincoln Way and Simmerhorn Road.
There are 27 units assigned to the fire from more than a handful of fire agencies. There have been no injuries so far.
The chief encourages people to find an alternate means of traveling through this area.
