A seventh person has died in connection with the Carr Fire after a Pacific Gas & Electric employee was killed Saturday.
According to PG&E Jairus Ayeta, 21, was killed Saturday afternoon in a vehicle accident. The apprentice lineman was working to restore power in the area.
"He was working in a remote area in dangerous terrain in supprt of power restoriation efforts," said Melissa Subbotin, a PG&E spokesperson.
Subbotin said PG&E is working with local law enforcement to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Two firefighters and four other people, including two children, have also been killed in connection with the fire.
As of Sunday morning the Carr Fire had burned 154,524 acres and was 41 percent contained. The fire has destroyed more than 1,000 homes. See the latest evactuation list here.
There are 17 major fires burning throughout California. In all, they have destroyed hundreds of homes, killed nine people — including four firefighters — and shut down Yosemite National Park.
