Forward progress has been stopped on a grass fire that forced evacuations Friday afternoon between Fairfield and Vacaville off I-80.
The Nelson fire burning off Nelson and Cherry Glen roads is 1,000 acres and 70 percent contained according to Cal Fire. The Fairfield Police Department reports that all evacuations have been lifted.
One structure was destroyed in the blaze. Fairfield police say PG&E is working to restore power for some residents.
