Since the death of John McCain Saturday, California politicians have been sharing their remembrances of the Arizona senator and former Republican presidential candidate.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein called McCain courageous and "a model for us all."
Sen. Kamala Harris said McCain was "a conscience of the Senate."
Many members of California's congressional delegation also released statements honoring McCain.
Democratic Sacramento Congresswoman Doris Matsui called her colleague across the aisle a "dedicated and tenacious patriot." In a statement, she says the Republican senator's "loyalty and commitment to the principles of a free and just society" made the country a better place.
