The California Senate issued a letter of reprimand Tuesday to Republican Joel Anderson for inappropriate behavior toward a female lobbyist while drinking at an evening fundraiser.
An investigation found Anderson inappropriately rubbed the lobbyist's shoulders, became “increasingly agitated,” and told her at least twice “I oughta bitch slap you,” or words very close to that.
The letter of reprimand calls the behavior “completely unacceptable.” In a statement, Anderson said that the investigation doesn’t substantiate what he calls “wild claims reported in the press.”
Anderson terms out later this year, but is one of two finalists for a Southern California seat on the Board of Equalization in the November election.
