Firefighters are battling a 85-acre wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon near Highway 193 and Penobscot Road east of Cool, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Cal Fire reported that as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Country Fire was 30 percent contained and forward progress had been stopped.
Evacuation orders have been lifted except for the following areas:
- Circle Drive
- Lou Allen Lane
- Stroker Way
An evacuation center is open at Cool Community Church on 863 Cave Valley Road.
Cal Fire reports that there have been two injuries and four structures have been destroyed.
