As the national conversation about reforming or defunding police departments continues, the city of Sacramento is seeing its own debate about the city’s budget for law enforcement.
One point of debate has been Sacramento’s Measure U, a sales tax that goes into the city’s general fund which was originally promised by the mayor to be used to fund programs and redevelopment in Sacramento’s underserved communities. Listen back on the live conversation between CapRadio’s Sarah Mizes-Tan and Dr. Cofer about police budgets, the importance of investing in the community and the continued debate over Measure U and other proposed police reforms.
