These are extraordinary times that call for exceptional journalism. CapRadio is rising to the occasion by marshaling resources and harnessing editorial and technological innovation to take our coverage to the next level. We now have a new tool in our kit as part of an ongoing partnership with Valley Vision.
On Monday, July 13, we’ll release our COVID-19 Resilience Poll. Through the week, we’ll feature stories, information and data on our news, talkshow and digital platforms about how residents across the Sacramento region are responding to the pandemic.
There are some big takeaways, including data on how the pandemic is intensifying already serious racial and economic disparities, and how the mental health impact of the pandemic has hit young, Black and Latino residents the hardest. There’s also data on how people in our region view government leadership at all levels, how political affiliation aligns with individual responses, what media sources people go to for information on the pandemic and more.
This partnership with Valley Vision is an example of the work CapRadio is doing to deepen our journalism and serve the community. It’s part of our job to understand the region and the people who live here and report on how they’re responding and feeling during this global crisis with depth, detail, nuance and empathy. The results from the survey will inform our journalism for weeks and months to come. What’s more, we’re planning on two more surveys through the end of the year for an ongoing picture of how the region is responding to the crisis.
