Today, voters around the state cast their ballots in the election to decide whether or not to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom from office.
In the Sacramento region, voters said they were motivated by Newsom's handling of the pandemic, homelessnes and social justice issues, both for and against the governor.
The effort to recall Newsom has been spurred on by the pandemic, and putting on this election has cost this state $276 million. California is allowing all registered voters to vote-by-mail because of the ongoing pandemic, which means the results of this election may not be known as early as they were in past elections.
Here’s a look at what voting looked like on election day around the city of Sacramento.
