The Stockton Arena will be going by a new name.
The city announced on Tuesday the arena, which is the home of the NBA G League’s Stockton Kings, will now be known as the Adventist Health Arena.
The city started taking bids for the arena’s naming rights in April. There were multiple offerings and Adventist Health came out as the winner.
City Manager Harry Black said the naming rights deal will mean an even better venue to come.
“Over the past four years, we have invested about $5 million into this building,” he said at an event announcing the name Tuesday. “This is going to make this even more of a fantastic venue for entertainment, sports, and other events.”
Adventist Health is one of the largest employers in the county with two medical centers, 20 clinics and thousands of patients.
Jason Shields with Adventist said the 10-year partnership is more than just branding.
“We’re delighted to establish the Adventist Health Arena as a source of joy and happiness for everyone in our county and beyond,” he said. “I’d like to thank the city of Stockton for this amazing opportunity to be associated with an entertainment venue that we can all be proud of.”
The city didn’t disclose the amount offered for the renaming other than to say it was a multi-million-dollar deal.
The arena, located in downtown Stockton, has been open since 2005 and hosted events such as basketball, arena football and international musical acts.
