The National Weather Service says there is the possibility of thunderstorms in the valley from 2 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday, which could bring lightning, hail and gusty winds. Sacramento could see around a half inch to 1 inch of rain through Saturday.
In the city of Sacramento, shelter will be available at:

- The center can accommodate around 50 guests and accepts pets.
Free transportation is available from Sacramento Regional transit, with a flier available on the city’s website.
Sacramento County is opening a shelter at:
- The Department of Human Assistance, 1725 28th Street, Sacramento, from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
- Pets must be on a leash or contained in an animal carrier.
