Sacramento’s candidates for mayor will face off at a bilingual forum Monday evening.
Epidemiologist Dr. Flojaune Cofer and Assembly member Kevin McCarty will take part. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The forum will be conducted in both English and Spanish and held at the Spanish Language School at 1101 R Street in downtown Sacramento.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the forum runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free, but space is limited. Attendees can RSVP on the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber’s website.
Other mayoral forums, debates
This isn’t the first time Cofer and McCarty have shared a stage. The two met earlier this month at a mayoral debate hosted by the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association, where they expressed differences in how they’d handle public safety, homeless services and rent control.
They also met last weekend for a debate hosted by Black, Latino and Jewish organizations at the Congregation B’nai Israel in Land Park. Debate topics ranged from policing to homelessness to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Monday’s forum also won’t be the last time the two mayoral candidates meet. They’re scheduled to speak at the following events:
On Oct. 8, the two are expected to appear on CapRadio’s Insight program in separate interviews.
