A Classical Fourth: Celebrating American Composers All Day
When you think of the Fourth of July and music, John Philip Sousa probably comes to mind. And you will hear a Sousa march or two during today's CapRadio classical programming.
But Sousa is just one of the more than two dozen American composers we’ll feature during our daylong salute, which will include works by Aaron Copland, John Williams, William Grant Still, Joan Tower, Philip Glass, George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Stephen Foster, William Schuman, Charles Ives and more.
Carl Watanabe, Devin Yamanaka and Victor Forman are your hosts from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., featuring one to two pieces each hour by composers who are as unique and diverse as the country they call home. It's what America sounds like... we're celebrating great American composers on this Independence Day.
