Florence Price | photo: G. Nelidoff / Florence Price Papers, University or Arkansas Libraries
American composer Florence Price passed away in 1953 and though much of her music was known and published, a treasure trove of more was discovered in 2009 at an abandoned house she once owned. Among those discoveries was her Symphony #4. Never performed in her lifetime, it received its world premiere recording in 2018. With its first movement mentions of the spiritual Wade in the Water and lively "Juba Dance" 3rd movement, you'll hear the entire Symphony today at 2:00pm.
