It's not yet June but still a great time to get married. Or attend a wedding. Or at least hear a "Rustic Wedding Symphony" from 1875 by Hungarian composer Karl Goldmark. It opens with a wedding march (in the first movement, with variations on the theme suggesting different guests and activities); then the intermezzo 2nd movement is composed around a rather cheerful bridal song which at times sounds regal like maybe the bride walking down the aisle. Then it’s off to the reception - the scherzo 3rd movement that’s rather humorous like maybe a picture of tipsy wedding guests dancing. In the 4th movement the couple perhaps take a moment away in a slow and lyrical andante passage titled “In The Garden,” and then it all concludes with a lively “Dance.” That's one interpretation not suggested by the composer; what do you hear? Celebrate the happiest of days evoked by this symphony at 2:00pm today on CapRadio Music.
