CapRadio remembers the men and women who fought bravely and lost their lives in battle. You'll hear music throughout the day reflective of the solemn spirit of Memorial Day. At 2:00pm, a cantata from 1936 by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams who remembered all the loss of human life in World War I and who saw World War II on the horizon. For his cantata "Dona Nobis Pacem" ("Grant Us Peace") Vaughan Williams included texts from the Catholic Mass, poems by Walt Whitman (who personally saw the horrors of war and the toll of war on everyday citizens), sections of the bible and even a political speech by a 19th century British orator and statesman.
