Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s 1922 Wind Quintet was positively received at its public premiere, performed often during his lifetime, performed at his funeral [in 1931], and has become a standard in the wind quintet repertoire. It’s today’s Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
