English composer Edward Elgar’s 1910 Violin Concerto in b-minor was such a triumphant success and popular favorite since its premiere that it even withstood an early 20th century decline in popularity of Elgar’s music overall. Thankfully, his music has regained popularity and his timeless Violin Concerto, with soloist Gil Shaham, is today's Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
