Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) in 1888
Toward the end of his life, Edvard Grieg remained proud of his three violin sonatas which he considered some of his best works. From 1887, the third quickly became world famous and has remained a staple in the chamber music repertory. Hear it today at 2:00pm with French violinist Pierre Amoyal, artistic director at the Conservatory of Lausanne, and Assistant Professor of Piano at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, American pianist Frederic Chiu.
