Classical Music Playlist, February 4, 2022
Maurice Duruflé was among the finest French organists of his day, a teacher at the Paris Conservatory for decades, and such a perfectionist composer that he published less than a dozen works. One of them was his magnificent Requiem which he premiered in 1947 then continued to refine until 1961. Based on Gregorian chants for the Requiem Mass, it’s today’s Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
