Created at the same time as his opera “Prince Igor,” from which he contributed some of the opera’s unused heroic musical ideas, Alexander Borodin’s 2nd Symphony was noted by a music critic at the time as having “the flavor of an ancient Russian epic.” Borodin’s colorful and grand 2nd Symphony is today's Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
