Classical Music Playlist, March 22, 2022
Listen throughout the day for today's featured women in classical music for Women's History Month: American composer Jennifer Higdon (b. 1962) and soprano Renée Fleming (b. 1959).
Contemporaries of Paul Dukas (1865-1935) ranked him among the best composers of their era. But probably due to considering himself primarily a teacher who composed, and certainly due to holding himself to extremely high standards, he left behind a limited number of works including his famous "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and his only Symphony which is today's Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
