Classical Music Playlist, March 31, 2022
For the final day of Women's History Month, we feature music from French composer Louise Farrenc - the only women appointed to the Paris Conservatory faculty in the entire 1800s - and Ukrainian pianist Anna Shelest, whose 2018 album Ukrainian Rhapsody has taken on added meaning in recent days.
It's also Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday, born on this day (by the Gregorian calendar) in 1685! The Gloria from his monumental Mass in B Minor is today's Midday Masterpiece at 2pm, serving as a capstone for his legendary and timeless career.
