During a wildly successful tour of England in 1884, Antonín Dvořák was given commissions for an Oratorio in Leeds, a cantata for Birmingham, and the Philharmonic Society of London asked him for a new Symphony. So he returned to London the next year and himself conducted his new Symphony #7, and again fans showered him with praise. Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 is today’s Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
