Classical Music Playlist, October 19, 2022
By the 1790s, Franz Joseph Haydn was in his 60s and enjoying the kind of late-career superstardom you see today with Madonna or Elton John. And like those rock stars, Haydn could absolutely bring down the house with a series of sellout crowds, especially with his final 12 symphonies, written for adoring crowds in London.
One of those symphonies, Haydn’s 101st, is nicknamed “The Clock” because of its ticking rhythm in the second movement. And today, CapRadio is your ticket to London’s hottest concert, because Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 is your Midday Masterpiece, right here at 2pm.
