A music critic at the time commented that Russian composer Alexander Borodin’s 2nd Symphony had “the flavor of an ancient Russian epic.” That's fitting, as the composer included unused musical ideas from his opera “Prince Igor” that he was writing at the same time. Borodin’s colorful and grand 2nd Symphony is today's Midday Masterpiece.
