Classical Music Playlist, June 27, 2023
Music writers have called Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 in C-minor his greatest ever and even THE greatest piano concerto ever written. One of only two piano concertos Mozart wrote in a minor key, Beethoven admired it and may have influenced his own Piano Concerto No. 3, also in C-minor, and Brahms referred to it as a "masterpiece of art and full of inspired ideas" and composed his own cadenza for the first movement. With John O'Conor as the soloist, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 is today's Midday Masterpiece.
