Robert and Clara Schumann in 1847
Robert and Clara Schumann were married on this date in 1840, and their musical lives were mutually influential. In 1845, Clara urged Robert to compose what would be his only Piano Concerto. And she began composing her Piano Trio in G-minor about the same time but finished it a year later. For their anniversary today, we’ll say that BOTH pieces - each about 30 minutes in length, for a full hour of Mr & Mrs Schumann - will be today's Midday Masterpiece.
